I suppose you’re wondering where the name of this blog comes from. I have a site together with my partner Sue called Green Home MegaStore, at http://greenhomemegastore.com. There, we invented – and continue to develop – the concept of “practical greenology”. Below is a quote from our website:

The term “greenology” has not yet made it into Wikipedia, much less “practical greenology,” but a current definition of greenology is

Our definition of “practical greenology” is

“Practical greenology” is the use in the home by individuals and families of available information, practices, and equipment resulting from the enlightenment of individuals, corporations, and governments concerned with being carbon neutral, environmentally friendly, resource renewable, earth conscious, cleaner, greener, sustainable, and efficient.

What “practical greenology” means is plain English is that we believe in using the best green practices and products in our homes, consistent with the limitations and considerations of everyday life. In short – green and affordable!

Wow! The folks over at Green Home MegaStore are going full out! Two new stores in one day, and one of them is Brit with local delivery in the UK and prices in UKP (£ Sterling)! Actually, one is international – “Our First International Store – UK” – and the other is what they are now calling a MegaNational Green Store – it’s essentially borderless since the products are all downloaded, and thus can be bought whereever there is Internet and credit cards!

This is not really on our subject material, but it struck such a sympathetic chord in me that I decided to publish it here for you. You may not have any idea who Mary Wilson is – to be honest, I didn’t remember either, until I heard her sing. Most people, even those “too young to remember,” know who the Supremes were and probably also know what an impact they had on the music world of their day. Most people will also recall that Diana Ross was the lead singer of the Supremes.  They most likely do NOT recall that Mary Wilson was one of the other two singers. Today, Mary Wilson is involved in the Humpty Dumpty Institute, which is concerned with the efforts to stop the use of land mines around the world, and Mary is their spokeswoman. And also, their lead singer :) .
